"That's a fantastic opportunity": Ubisoft CEO Hints $69B Microsoft Activision Deal Means Titles Like Assassin's Creed, Rainbow Six Can Become Mobile Game Giants





When new games are released, gamers hurry and empty their pockets to get a taste of the new release. In the past decade, it has been happening more because many have chosen gaming as a profession. They need to get a hold of the news games to get accustomed to it. Speaking of video games, a few of the biggest video game developers are Activision-Blizzard, Microsoft, Ubisoft, etc.


Recently, in one of the interviews, Microsoft officials mentioned their wish to acquire one of the biggest video game creators in the world. They kept the matter secret until recently. People finally came to know about the deal when Microsoft named their official bid. Microsoft is on its way to buy Activision-Blizzard Company.


Ubisoft CEO Comments on Microsoft and Activision-Blizzard Merger


Ubisoft is one of the biggest video game developers and publishers in the world, with iconic franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry. Their CEO and co-founder, Yves Guillemot, is a big fan of the Microsoft and Activision-Blizzard merger. When asked about the merger, he said that it is an amazing opportunity for everyone. He also said that people are beginning to understand the importance of Internet Protocol.



“It’s also showing the value of IPs that can now be on console and PC, but also mobile, and become more worldwide brands, and when we say worldwide it’s really everywhere in the world, and that’s a fantastic opportunity.


“Microsoft is saying that the mobile part of the Activision deal is important, so all the investments we are making to be stronger on mobile are also in line with that, so all those elements will help the value of the company to grow.”

Yves Guillemot later added that Microsoft is looking forward to getting a hold of Activision-Blizzard’s mobile deals, which include King and Candy Crush. This will help the company to expand its business further to the mobile world. Due to this huge deal, people will be keen to play more mobile games. With Ubisoft launching mobile games like Assassin’s Creed: Jade, Rainbow Six Mobile, The Division: Resurgence, etc., the merger will also indirectly help their business grow.

Microsoft Planning On Buying Out Activision-Blizzard


Microsoft openly declared that it was going to buy Activision-Blizzard. The buy-out saga has been going on for a couple of months now. The value was determined to be around a staggering $69 Billion. Even though some people refer to it as a merger, most think it to be a buy-out. Microsoft exclusively owns the Xbox rights but Activision- Blizzard has better mobile games. So one of the important dealings of this deal involves mobile game rights.

Microsoft is looking to expand its reach to mobile games. The deal is still in its initial stage. The merger was given a deadline of 18th July. But the companies involved thought it would be better to increase the deadline to 18th October 2023. Microsoft was having a bit problem with Federal Trade Commission, but it was resolved. There was an appeal of stopping the merger, but it was denied.


Australia and the United Kingdom are the only two hold outs remaining in the Microsoft acquisition of Activision.
