Microsoft is testing a new way to access Bing Chat on Android, with the beta version of Microsoft Launcher offering a quick way to use the AI-powered chatbot from the app’s search bar.

The feature was initially spotted by a user who goes by the name ‘Xeno’ on X  (formerly Twitter) and since then, many have downloaded the beta version of Microsoft Launcher to test out the Bing Chat integration.

Going by the screenshot, it looks like Microsoft has baked Bing Chat right into the launcher’s search bar, which can be accessed from anywhere in the launcher by simply pulling down. This offers a quick and easy way for users to ask anything they want without having to launch the Bing app or head over to Edge on their phone.

The user interface is identical to how the chatbot appears on Edge, Swiftkey and Bing app on Android with three conversational styles to choose from – Creative, Balanced and Precise.

Apart from Bing Chat integration, the beta version of Microsoft Launcher also brings a new ‘Bing Search’ widget. Compared to the Bing app widget, the new widget is transparent and offers a clean minimal look.

While Microsoft Surface Duo devices come with Microsoft Launcher as the default launcher out of the box, the launcher is separately updated via monthly system updates, so it is still unclear if and when the launcher’s Bing Chat integration will be available on those devices.

Unlike the AI Windows Copilot for Windows 11, which is capable of modifying system settings on PCs, the Bing Chat window on Microsoft Launcher will be limited to making queries and looking up information on the internet.

For the last few months, Microsoft has been integrating Bing Chat into several of its products like Edge, Swiftkey and Microsoft 365 to name a few. Earlier this month, the company made Bing Chat available on third-party browsers like Google Chrome and Apple Safari.
