The Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) orchestrated a momentous candlelight march, leading the procession from Akashdeep to the Tennis Court in Itanagar as a tribute to the late Gyamar Padang, a courageous whistleblower whose resolute stance against the APPSC paper leakage scam reverberated exactly one year ago.
"Meritocracy: Every Arunachalee's Inherent Right - Let's Embrace It Together! Join the Movement for Ourselves and Future Generations," these rallying cries echoed through the streets of Itanagar, voiced passionately by students advocating for a just and equitable future.
It is worth mentioning that PAJSC had earlier accused Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu of involvement in the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) fiasco and spreading a ‘half-truth’ on fulfillment of the 13-point charter of demands placed joint steering committee.
“Time and again, the state government has been fooling the public with false statements and press releases that the 13-point charter of demands on APPSC paper-leak case has been fulfilled”, PAJSC vice chairman Tadak Nalo said addressing a press conference at the Arunachal Press Club earlier.
The state government on August 24 had issued updates on the PAJSC’s 13-point demands.
Rejecting the government’s claim of fulfilling all the demands placed by the Committee, Nalo said, “The way the state government is trying to suppress PAJSC from organizing any democratic activities or act agitating against the issue, proves the involvement of the Chief Minister, as without his direction, the district administration and state police force will not act”.
Nalo also opined that the Chief Minister is betraying and fooling the public with eyewash statements about the fulfillment of 13-point demands, without executing them practically, adding, ''The Chief Minister has no political will to solve the APPSC issue.''
“The state government has been claiming the fulfillment of demands, and PAJSC has been claiming the non-fulfillment of the same. Therefore, now it is up to the public to decide whether all demands have been met by the state government or not”, the PAJSC vice chairman further said.
Nalo stressed that the investigation process conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) is invisible. He claimed that the chargesheet filed by the CBI is completely elementary and too weak to punish all accused involved in the case.
Regarding the constitution of a one-man inquiry commission headed by Justice PK Deka (Retd) by the state government as per vide order No. AR-23011/2/2023-SECT-1-AR dated 16/08/2023, Nalo urged the government to constitute at least a ‘three-member commission’ and constitute the same according to the Commission of Inquiry Act, 1952.
Meanwhile, replying to a query regarding evidence against the Chief Minister on the latter’s involvement in the APPSC fiasco, PAJSC Chairman Techi Puru said, “The Chief Minister should impose CBI and ED on himself if he is confident about him not being involved in the scam”.
He further challenged the Chief Minister to mention the particular demand which was fulfilled suo motto as the latter has been claiming fulfillment of 13-point demands on the APPSC issue.
Puru informed that PAJSC will be organizing ‘civil disobedience movements’ across the state, after the end of the state assembly session which is scheduled to be held from 4 September next to agitate over the APPSC fiasco.
