3XWrestling is preparing to bring a high octane, family friendly show to Fort Dodge on Friday evening.
The show will be held at the Cardiff Event Center at Fort Frenzy, 3232 First Ave. S.
3XWrestling is an independent professional wrestling organization from Des Moines. The promotion will be bringing in national talent such as former TNA World Champion “Cowboy” James Storm and former AEW luchador Fuego Del Sol as well as some Iowa talent such as current 3XW Pure Wrestling Champion Maggie Lee.
“3XWrestling started in 2005,” said Luke Dickens, the majority owner of 3XW. “Some wrestling fans got together and started a new wrestling company. They were bringing a type of wrestling that wasn’t really in the area for independent wrestling. There were companies that came to Des Moines, but there was nobody that was really doing it in Des Moines. So, they brought these new wrestlers out that were interested in getting their feet wet. They had people like Tyler Black, who’s now Seth Rollins in the WWE, and Marek Brave who works with Seth Rollins doing training at Black And Brave wrestling school in Davenport. They were these guys and gals that didn’t have a platform in our area.”
Dickens, who also owns Vinyl Cup Records in Cedar Falls and Marv’s Music in Des Moines, then discussed how he joined the promotion saying ” I grew up in Vincent, and I grew up wrestling fan, always watching Raw and WCW. I had an opportunity to be a ring announcer with 3XWrestling in 2011. And so I did that and I became a businessman and built my own company from the basement of my house. I own a bunch of record stores now, I manage musicians, and work out of Nashville quite often. The opportunity came to purchase the company, so I bought majority ownership.”
Originally 3XWrestling was going to have a show in Fort Dodge in March 2020. The pandemic halted those plans, and the promotion is excited to finally hold an event in Fort Dodge.
When discussing the upcoming Fort Dodge event, Dickens said “we have ‘Cowboy’ James Storm who defeated Kurt Angle in 2011 for the TNA World Championship, we got Fuego Del Sol who wrestled for AEW, there’s Warhorse who’s wrestled AEW and is a regional star, Jeremy Wyatt who is a six time heavyweight champion for 3XW and is a regional star, and we have Maggie Lee who trained with Seth Rollins in Davenport. She’s going to be there. She’s a rising star on the women’s wrestling front, and she’s our first woman Pure Wrestling champion. She beat a male for the pure wrestling belt. She beat JT Energy, another regional star who’s from Eagle Grove. I mean it’s just stacked.”
One aspect of 3XWrestling that Dickens was especially proud of is how it is able to bring these stars to people who may not normally have the opportunity to see them. Dickens said “I think it’s so cool to be able to walk out of your house in Fort Dodge or Vincent or anywhere in Iowa and go watch someone like James Storm, he beat Kurt Angle and you can see him right here in your hometown. Being able to bring something at a national caliber to an area where I grew up is insane, and being able to bring that to Fort Dodge is really cool for me. You know, it’s giving the fans something they don’t get on a regular basis. We’re bringing in hard hitting action with stars that you’ve seen on TV that normally you wouldn’t see. And we’re keeping the price as low as we possibly can, so people can really get the experience and not have to pay high prices for it. “
