Unquestionably,Randy Ortonis one of the greatest wrestlers in WWE history. Orton is a 14-time WWE World Champion, and he is a third generation wrestler. Orton has achieved a lot in his WWE career as he is a Grand Slam Champion, a two-time Royal Rumble match winner, a WrestleMania main eventer, and a Money in the Bank ladder match winner among other exceptional achievements.
The Apex Predator may have achieved a lot in his WWE career, but Orton hasn't achieved everything in his wrestling career. There are still some championships that Orton never got his hands on, and there were several gimmick matches that Orton participated in, but he was unable to get a victory in them.
10 Never Won A Chairs Match
The chairs match is one of the most underwhelming gimmick matches in WWE history. Fans would rather see chairs used as weapons in other gimmick matches, but not as their own gimmick match. Nevertheless, Randy Orton collided with a familiar foe, Rey Mysterio in a chairs match at TLC 2018.
Orton and Mysterio had a solid match as expected with the former World Champions going back-and-forth. This was a match that Orton came up short in with Mysterio executing the hurricanrana for the win, leaving Orton winless in chairs matches.
9 Never Won A Punjabi Prison Match
Jinder Mahal shocked the world when he upset Randy Orton for the WWE Championship at Backlash 2017. Orton and Mahal's underwhelming rivalry continued with Mahal beating Orton once again at Money in the Bank 2017 to retain the WWE Championship. Their feud culminated in a Punjabi Prison match at Battleground 2017 for the WWE Championship.
Orton wasn't in his comfort zone in a Punjabi Pison match, but he used weapons to inflict punishment on the Modern-Day Maharaja. Furthermore, The Great Khali made a surprising appearance, and he aided Mahal in retaining the WWE Championship.
8 Never Won The ECW Championship
ECW was revived by WWE in 2006, and Randy Orton had several appearances in ECW whilst he was a member of Raw. Orton feuded with Kurt Angle, and Orton was subjected to a hostile crowd at ECW One Night Stand 2006, and Orton ended up losing to the Olympic Gold Medalist.
Despite Orton appearing in ECW he has never won the ECW Championship. Orton faced off with the ECW Champion Bobby Lashley on an episode of ECW in a non-title match. Orton won't lose sleep over winning the ECW Championship, as he has won the WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship multiple times.
7 Never Won An "I Quit" Match
Randy Orton saw off John Cena in a successful WWE Championship title defense at SummerSlam 2009. and that was the beginning of their rivalry that dominated the second half of 2009. The following month, Orton defended the WWE Championship against John Cena once again, but it was an "I Quit" match.
Their match was solid, and it was a hard-fought battle between two bitter enemies. Nevertheless, Cena recaptured the WWE Championship, and Orton has failed to win an "I Quit" match in his legendary wrestling career.
6 Never Became King Of The Ring
Randy Orton has achieved great things in his WWE career, but he never won the King of the Ring tournament. In 2002, Orton was a rookie when the King of the Ring tournament ended for four years. Orton was a former World Champion by the time the 2006 tournament came around, and he was the reigning WWE Champion in the 2010 event.
The King of the Ring tournament has elevated some wrestlers to the next level. The likes of Steve Austin, Triple H, Kurt Angle, and Edge benefitted from winning the event. Orton failed to win it but there's no doubt that he would have been a good King.
5 Failed To Beat Hulk Hogan
Randy Orton's Legend Killer gimmick was fantastic as Orton was able to mix it up with several of the all-time greats. Orton feuded with Hulk Hogan in the summer of 2006, and they had a battle at SummerSlam. This turned out to be Hogan's final match in his WWE career.
The Hulkster should have put Orton over as this would have been a huge scalp for Hogan to take in his WWE career. However, in classic Hogan fashion, he got a victory on the way out in a match that he didn't need to win.
4 Never Won The Universal Championship
One championship that has eluded Randy Orton from his decorated career, and that was the Universal Championship. Had Orton not sustained a career-threatening back injury, he was likely to face Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. That would have been a brilliant championship match with Orton going toe-to-toe with the Tribal Chief.
Orton is a 14-time WWE World Champion with 10 reigns as WWE Champion and a four-time World Heavyweight Champion. Orton was the reigning WWE Champion in 2020 whilst Reigns was Universal Champion, but Orton holding the Universal Championship would've worked exceptionally well.
3 Never Won An Iron Man Match
Randy Orton is one of the best physically conditioned wrestlers on the WWE roster, and he has a lot of endurance. The rivalry between Randy Orton and John Cena reached its climax at Bragging Rights 2009 in a unique Anything Goes 60-minute Iron Man Match for Orton's WWE Championship.
As expected, Orton and Cena threw everything at each other with both men desperate to escape with the WWE Championship. It was a close match and the WWE Championship was a hot potato between the pair as for the third pay-per-view meeting in succession, there was a title change.
2 Never Had A 5-Star Match According To Dave Meltzer
Randy Orton is one of the greatest in-ring competitors, but another thing missing from his resume is a 5-star match rating from Dave Meltzer. Meltzer's Wrestling Observer Newsletter has seen Meltzer rate matches from various wrestling promotions, but he has failed to give Orton a five-star.
Orton won't be losing sleep over it as he is a sure-fire WWE Hall of Famer with the career that he has successfully carved out for himself. The highest rating that Orton has received from Meltzer is 4.5 stars which includes his brutal Intercontinental Championship match with Mick Foley at Backlash 2004.
1 Failed To Win A WrestleMania Main Event
Not every wrestler gets to main event WrestleMania, but Randy Orton's greatness has allowed him to main event WrestleMania twice. The first time Orton headlined WrestleMania was at WrestleMania 25 when he challenged his former Evolution mentor Triple H for the WWE Championship as he won the 2009 Royal Rumble match.
The match was flat as The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels stole the show in an instant classic. Nevertheless, Orton losing to Triple H was an unpopular decision. Five years later at WrestleMania 30, Orton headlined WrestleMania for the second time. Rev Theory played his "Voices" theme song live before his WWE World Heavyweight Championship title defense against Daniel Bryan, and his former Evolution stablemate Batista, who won the 2014 Royal Rumble match. Once again, Orton was winless in a WrestleMania main event, but this time he wasn't involved in the decision as Bryan forced Batista to submit to the Yes Lock.
