In every sport there are overrated players, and wrestling is no exception. Over the years, there have always been overrated wrestlers in WWE who are not very talented, but still win more matches than they should and grab the spotlight for a long time without deserving it, thus overshadowing other wrestlers.
These wrestlers were protected most of the time and were always in winning positions, and some were even overpushed “to the moon”, winning titles and having long reigns, making their win-loss records something ridiculous. So, without further ado, let's take a look at 10 overrated wrestlers with surprisingly high win percentages.
10 Toni Storm (69%)
It may seem like a controversial opinion, but Toni Storm is overrated. The AEW star is an average in-ring performer, as she has never had a phenomenal match and her best performances were against wrestlers more talented than her. Storm doesn't cut outstanding promos, her character is basic, and she's not very charismatic either.
But truth be told, she is popular because of her looks. Despite being an average worker, Storm has won 69% of her televised matches, and 73% of her singles matches. Not to mention that she is a two-time AEW Women's World Champion.
9 Julia Hart (70%)
Julia Hart is only 21 years old, but many AEW fans are obsessed with her, and are even asking for a title run for her. Certainly, Hart has potential and can be a top star in five years, but right now she is overrated. Hart is very green in all aspects of wrestling, but she still has a winning percentage of 70%, and when it comes to singles action, the percentage increases to 74.5%.
8 Brutus Beefcake (70.1%)
It's no secret to anyone that Brutus Beefcake benefited from his friendship with Hulk Hogan to get opportunities on the main event scene and win a lot of matches. In fact, he won 70.1% of his televised matches, and if we talk about singles matches, he had a winning percentage of 76.5%.
It's amazing that a wrestler as mediocre as Brutus Beefcake won so many matches in his career. Certainly, he was over in WWE at one point in his career, but his only strength was his physique, otherwise, he never excelled in any aspect.
7 Jim Duggan (71.9%)
Do you know who had the honor of winning the first WWE Royal Rumble match? That's right, Jim Duggan, even though he was an average worker at best. He was very charismatic, but his in-ring skills were mediocre, and he wasn't good on the microphone either. Despite that, he won titles like the WCW World Television Title and the WCW United States Heavyweight Title, and won 71.9% of his matches in his career.
6 Lex Luger (73.8%)
Lex Luger was one of the most popular wrestlers of the 1990s, and he became a wrestling icon. But he was actually overrated, as most of his matches were boring to watch, slow-paced, with sloppy moves and basic sequences.
Luger wasn’t a great talker, and his character work was unimpressive. The only great thing about him was his physique, and that’s the main reason he was pushed both in WWE and WCW. He recorded 476 wins in his career, which is a 73.8% win percentage.
5 Goldberg (80.3%)
Perhaps it is far-fetched to say that Goldberg is overrated, as he is a wrestling legend and was one of the biggest stars in WCW history. But truth be told, he was never an outstanding in-ring performer, let alone a good talker. But Goldberg became really overrated in his second WWE run, and yet he kept winning matches, titles, and burying younger talent, like when he squashed The Fiend and Kevin Owens. Goldberg has an 80.3% win percentage, 87.4% in singles action.
4 Colten Gunn (80.7%)
Colten Gunn is one of the most overrated wrestlers in AEW, he and his brother Austin are popular just because they are Billy Gunn's sons, and that's why the fans hold them in high esteem. However, Colten and Austin are not as talented, but we will talk about Colten because he has the highest winning percentage (80.7%). Colten is not charismatic, and is an average in-ring wrestler, who doesn't have what it takes to succeed as a singles star.
3 Ronda Rousey (84.1%)
Ronda Rousey has a winning percentage of 84.1% in her wrestling career, although it decreases slightly in singles matches (83.8%). Rousey has always been a dominant wrestler, as she has defeated virtually every woman she has faced and has only lost one-on-one to Charlotte Flair, Liv Morgan and Shayna Baszler. Rousey was overpushed even though she is a sloppy wrestler, with terrible mic skills.
2 The Ultimate Warrior (90.1%)
The Ultimate Warrior only lost eight televised singles matches in his career, to the Honky Tonk Man, Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Rick Rude and Sgt. Slaughter, meaning he had a 91.9% winning percentage in singles action. His percentage drops to 90.1% if we add televised tag team and multi-man matches.
The Ultimate Warrior was a lackluster in-ring performer, with a small moveset and limited mobility. His promos were more yelling than anything else, although admittedly he was extremely charismatic.
1 Jade Cargill (96.7%)
Jade Cargill is overrated because she is considered the big deal and was booked as an unbeatable monster in AEW. She has a ridiculous 96.7% win percentage, and 98% in singles matches, which is insane. She held the TBS Title for 508 days, until she recently lost to Kris Statlander. Cargill, however, is still green, she has yet to have an outstanding match, her botches are frequent, and she's not much of a talker either.
