A pro wrestling locker room might look like a tough guy's environment, and while that might be part true, there's another side to it, as despite taking each other to their limits inside the ring, the wrestlers look after each other behind the screens. In the same way, not all wrestlers embrace their on-screen characters in real life, and despite looking like bad guys on television, they've made heartwarming gestures for their coworkers and fans.

Wrestlers and their environment can easily be misunderstood, but there's a lot more kindness behind the screens than one might imagine. With that said, let's take a look at ten acts of kindness wrestling fans might not know about.





10 The Miz's Gesture For The WWE Writing Staff

After competing in the Team Johnny Vs. Team Teddy 12-man tag team match at WrestleMania 28, The Miz tried to take his wife Maryse, who wasn't signed to the company at the time, to the WrestleMania after-party only to find out she wasn't allowed inside.


The Miz was also surprised to see the WWE writers were also not invited into the party and took it upon himself and took them all out for dinner that night. The former WWE Champion might be one of the most hated heels of all-time, but he proved that he's nothing like his on-screen character with this amazing gesture.



9 CM Punk Makes A Fan's Day

CM Punk might be the center of controversy following multiple backstage altercations in AEW, but that doesn't take away the fact that he made some heartwarming gestures to his fans and coworkers over the years.


While he was working for WWE, CM Punk competed in a live event at Wichita Falls, Texas, in February 2012. He made his regular entrance to the ring and threw his t-shirt to a young fan who was sitting ringside, only to see a middle-aged man snatch it from the kid.


Punk reportedly left the ring and went over to the merchandise stands to grab a new t-shirt, and gave it to the young fan before he went with his match.



8 Brock Lesnar's Gesture

While talking on his After The Bell podcast, WWE commentator Corey Graves recalled the time when WWE had to cancel an episode of Raw due to snow in January 2015.

He and several other wrestlers had to stay in the venue for the snow to clear out before they could leave. They spent their time at a bar enjoying some drinks and talking with each other, and when it was almost time for the bar to close, Brock Lesnar reportedly took it upon himself to pay some extra cash to keep it open for the WWE superstars.



7 Wardlow's Heartwarming Gesture

Current AEW star Wardlow is on the fast track to main event success in the company, and he's already climbing up the ladder by holding the TNT Championship on three occasions so far.


Standing at 6'3 and weighing over 260 pounds, Wardlow carries himself like a tough guy, but there's a very generous and soft heart inside all the muscle and former Impact Wrestling star Lady Frost shared a heartwarming story about Wardlow.


During a meet and greet event, Wardlow caught a young fan crying as her mother couldn't afford to buy her Lady Frost's Slam Buddy, and Wardlow went made the young fan's day by buying one for her.



6 Roman Reigns Makes Malakai Black Feel Welcomed

Current AEW star Malakai Black is known for his WWE run between 2016 and 2021. He was part of the NXT roster until 2019 and used to go on live event tours with the main roster superstars, and as a sign of respect, Black used to make sure the locker rooms were clean after the wrestlers had left and took out the garbage and stacked the towels, and placed enough water for the wrestlers coming out from the matches.


Roman Reigns, who was one of the locker-room leaders at the time, noticed Black doing all the extra work and made him feel welcome by asking him not to clean the locker rooms anymore and reassured him that he belonged there.



5 The Undertaker Broke A Rule To Help The Miz

The Wrestlers Court was a tradition behind the screens in WWE during the earlier eras of the company, and the senior members of the roster would act as the judge if any other wrestler crosses a line and gives out suitable, and sometimes, harsh punishments.


The Undertaker is known for being one of the most influential judges of the wrestlers court, and he broke a major rule to help The Miz during the latter's early days in the company.


The Miz got banished from the WWE locker room by a senior member after he got caught eating chicken over a referee's bag and had to dress in the hallways for months. The unwritten rule was that only those who gave the punishment can rescind them, but The Undertaker realized The Miz had learned his lesson and broke the rule to re-invite The Miz back into the locker room.



4 Seth Rollins Shares A Heartwarming Gesture He Received During His Indie Days

When current Impact Wrestling star Jonathan Gresham started his own promotion, Terminus, in late-2021, Seth Rollins showed his support by recalling a generous gesture Gresham made for him while they were working together in the indies.


Rollins might have a lucrative contract with WWE at present, but that wasn't the case during his indie days as he struggled financially throughout the phase and couldn't afford to miss a hard-earned day's booking-fee when a promoted couldn't come up with the cash.

Jonathan Gresham went out of his way to cover Rollins' fee, so they could have a match at the indie show in front of around six people.



3 Triple H Fills In For Kevin Owens

After Bray Wyatt couldn't compete in the 2017 TLC event, WWE brought in AJ Styles, who was several other wrestlers in SmackDown's South America tour in Chile, as a last-minute replacement.


Kevin Owens, who was also supposed to be a part of the tour, had to leave for home due to a family emergency. Since a local promotion had spent around $900,000 for WWE to be there in Chile, and for the fans not to get disappointed that both Styles and Owens got taken out from the shows, Triple H laced in his boots to compete against Rusev.


However, The Game didn't receive any payment for competing at the show and instead had the money sent to Owens despite him not competing at the event.



2 Brodie Lee Helping John Silver

The late Brodie Lee is known for looking out for his coworkers and helping them whenever necessary, and when he became the leader of The Dark Order faction in All Elite Wrestling, he did the same by helping out his stable-mate John Silver.


Following his passing, John Silver paid tribute to Brodie Lee by recalling the time he bought him a ring jacket to make him look like a star and also got him matching gear, both costing over $1000, just for an idea he had for Being the Elite, which never got filmed.



1 John Cena Paid Fines For Fellow Superstars

Former WWE Superstar Aiden English revealed that he once got in trouble along with several other superstars for an unplanned spot in a dark match, which didn't go well with the producers.


He teamed with Rusev and Baron Corbin to take on AJ Styles and The Usos in a dark match, and the wrestlers had some fun by throwing a Super Kick party with the babyfaces taking out the heels. At one point, the fans chanted for the referee to get involved, so AJ Styles took the referee's shirt, put it on himself and started delivering super kicks.


However, when they walked out after the match, the backstage producers chewed them out and called for a meeting with them, where they threatened them with fines and releases. They eventually get hit with heavy fines, but John Cena, who was in the locker room, knew the value in what the wrestlers did in the ring and paid out all their fines.
