How to run a trial balance and aged reports in Dynamics 365 Business Central

Writing on the Encore Business Solutions blog, Abhishek Jain noted that users can check the accounts receivable and accounts payable subledger accounts by using a report called "aged accounts receivable/payable." He stated that this report shows the open transactions that currently have not been paid within the system.

Jain also stated that users can print the trial balance, which enables them to get the totals for each general ledger account that is used in their systems. In his blog post, Jain detailed the steps necessary to print aged reports in Dynamics 365 Business Central and provided screenshots of the aged AR and AP reports.

Jain then explained the steps necessary for users to print trial balance in D365BC, which helps them get the totals for each general ledger account currently being used in their systems. And he also attached a screenshot of the trial balance. Jain provided a video with a walkthrough of aged reports and trial balances in D365BC, along with some comparisons to the equivalent functionality in Dynamics GP.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 2023 Release Wave 2 plan for Business Central

Writing on his blog, Waldo, a.k.a. Eric Wauters offered his perspective on the features planned for 2023 Release Wave 2 that interest him.

Wauters noted that he is excited about the option to "turn off indexes as a partner."

Finally, we’ll not only be able to ADD indexes, but we’ll also be able to disable them.  We will be able to make SQL server so much more efficient, by disabling the unused indexes.

Another feature Wauters stated that he liked is the "use the built-in rich text editor to enter data," which he stated he had been waiting for. He then offered specific information about this particular feature.

One feature he doesn’t really care about and wasn't waiting for is "open Visual Studio Code from web client to investigate or troubleshoot extensions.

If there’s one feature that I would never have thought of, it’s this one. Set up a local DEV environment from the web client?  Like .. without any form of DevOps-link?

However, Wauters stated that he is going to give this feature the benefit of the doubt, saying that he saw a little bit of value for support and for debugging. In his blog post, Wauters offered information as to what he thought about a number of other features in this wave.
